BestMediaInfo: AI Assistants and Consumer Brand Discovery

BestMediaInfo covered Pulp Strategy’s GEO Benchmark Index 2025 on 20 November 2025, a study run on NeuroRank that examined how AI assistants affect brand visibility, accuracy, and recall. The report describes a widening gap between what brands communicate and what AI models present, and links it to content machines struggle to read.

Buyers shortlist inside the assistant

BestMediaInfo writes that the move to AI-driven discovery already affects how consumers and enterprise buyers shortlist vendors, weigh information, and judge credibility. The research examined how ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity recall and represent brands in BFSI, retail, technology, energy, and media.

Weak signals explain more than weak markets

The study reports that 68 percent of brands do not appear in category-level AI responses and that more than half encounter factual inaccuracies.

The structural gaps it reports include brands missing from basic prompts, fabricated capabilities, negative summaries, and inconsistent naming. According to the report, these problems trace to unstructured content, outdated formats, and weak machine-readable signals. A brand’s performance in its market explains far less.

The method combined 70 visibility audits covering more than 350 brands, 408,000 prompt simulations, insights from more than 60 CMOs, and external validation, which together produced a comparative map of how AI models process trust signals.

A 30 to 90 day framework

The report outlined a framework for improving factual accuracy, reducing hallucinations, strengthening AI-recognized content, and building a consistent presence across models. The current NeuroRank research is the AI Visibility Index 2026.

Unaided recall shows who gets shortlisted

NeuroRank separates two kinds of prompt. Aided recall prompts name the brand and are checked for accuracy, completeness, associations, sentiment, and hallucinations. Unaided recall prompts ask about a category or a comparison without naming the brand, and record whether and how the brand appears. Consumer discovery happens mostly in the second kind, where a buyer asks which product to choose.

Ambika Sharma opened her statement in BestMediaInfo’s report with a verdict on AI assistants:

“AI assistants via AI search are now the gatekeepers of demand”

“AI assistants via AI search are now the gatekeepers of demand”

I chose the word gatekeeper on purpose. A gatekeeper decides who enters the room before anyone hears the pitch. For a consumer brand, the answer to which one to buy is often settled in a chat window the brand never sees. The response is clearer evidence: facts a machine can verify, published where it already looks.
